A specimen plant is an unusual garden plant or tree, added as a focal point in your outdoor space – you can find them at plant shops like Garden by Homebase at Next.

To repot a plant, turn the current plant pot upside down and shake over the new bigger plant pot to release as much soil as possible. Next, gently loosen the roots with your hand to separate them from the current plant pot. Then add a layer of soil to your new pot, place the plant on top of it and cover with fresh compost. Pat your plant in place to secure the roots.
